What documents do I need?
here is a list of documents you may need
General Documents
- * ID from you and spouse.
- * Name, Social Security cards and date of birth of all the persons claimed in the income tax.
- * W-2 or 1099 from all jobs.
- * Unemployment Compensation.
- * Social Security Benefits.
- * Any other income including but not limited to lotteries, bonus and gambling prizes.
- * Interest income from savings accounts or government payments.
- * Information of individual retirement accounts payments received during the year.
- * If you have an individual retirement account outside your job, bring the information of the contributions you made to the account.
- * Payments of private school or university for you and your dependents.
- * Information about the daycare: name, address and federal identification number of the daycare provider or babysitter.
- * Any other income.
For owners of a residential house
- * Medical expenses paid during the year, including health insurance, medicines, eye care and dental expenses.
- * Interest paid in the mortgage and real estate taxes paid.
- * Donations in cash and non-cash.
- * Unreimbursed job expenses such as Union dues, uniforms, work equipment, uniform cleaning services, etc.
- * Personal taxes (taxes paid in the purchase of vehicles, jewelry etc)
For owners of a rental property
- * Rental income received.
- * Mortgage interest paid in the property.
- * Real estate taxes
- * Homeowner's Insurance.
- * Repair and improvements expenses of the rental part of the property.
- * Payment of services of the rental part of the property, like electricity, water and gas.
For Self Employees
- * Income (1099-Misc or cash)
- * Expenses incurred in your business or trade.
- * Income tax advanced payments.
Sale of Property
- * Closing documents of the purchase of the property.
- * Closing documents of the sale of the property.
- * Refinancing documents if property was refinanced.
- * Repairs made during the last year.
Non Residents (teachers)
- * Passport.
- * Travel expenses from your country to USA
- * Medical expenses incurred durant the year, including medical insurance, medicines, eye and dental expenses.
